The Luxembourg legal home-grow kit

Luxembourg lets an adult household grow up to four cannabis plants at home. Here is the exact equipment to do it legally, discreetly, and without guesswork — sized for a closet and built to keep plants out of public view.

What the law lets you grow

Luxembourg's current framework allows up to four cannabis plants per adult household, so long as the plants stay at the principal residence, remain out of public view, and are kept for personal use only. Adults must be 18 or older. Sale, gifting, exchange, and barter remain prohibited, and carrying more than 3 grams in public still triggers the criminal threshold. Germany is different: there the current home-grow limit is up to three plants per adult. For the underlying rule set, read our full rules and the wider legal landscape. The summary here follows the same source base used there, including CMS on Luxembourg, Prohibition Partners on Luxembourg, and Goodwin on Germany's 2024 law.

Grow tent (~100 x 100 x 200 cm)

Find on Amazon.de ▸ (affiliate link)

A tent in this size range comfortably contains four modest home plants without pushing into a larger footprint than most flats can manage. More importantly, it keeps the crop out of public view, which is part of the legal test in Luxembourg, while also helping with light discipline and smell control.

LED grow light (~150-250 W actual draw)

Choose a full-spectrum LED that genuinely covers a 100 x 100 cm canopy. This wattage band is enough for a four-plant home setup without oversizing heat, power draw, or cost. The point is reliable indoor lighting for a small legal household grow, not maximum output.

Inline extraction fan + carbon filter + ducting

This is the discretion package. The extraction fan moves stale air out of the tent, the carbon filter strips odor before it leaves, and the ducting lets you route that air cleanly. For a home setup in close quarters, neighbor-friendly smell control matters as much as plant health.

4x fabric pots (~15-19 L)

One pot per plant keeps the count obvious and the layout simple. Fabric pots are beginner-friendly because they drain well and reduce the risk of waterlogging. A 15 to 19 litre size is a sensible middle ground for a home tent without turning each plant into a space problem.

Growing medium (light-mix soil or coco)

A simple growing medium keeps the setup understandable from day one. Light-mix soil is forgiving for people who want slower, simpler feeding. Coco gives more control if you are comfortable watering and feeding more actively. Either works; the main point is starting with a clean, predictable base.

Mains timer

The timer runs the light cycle the same way every day, which removes avoidable mistakes. It is one of the cheapest pieces in the kit and one of the easiest to overlook. For a discreet household grow in a shared home, consistency is worth more than improvisation.

Complete — adds control and consistency

Clip / oscillating circulation fan

A small circulation fan keeps air moving inside the tent so humidity does not sit around leaves and stems get steadier airflow. This is not a luxury item once plants fill the space. It helps the environment stay even from corner to corner.

Base nutrient set (grow + bloom)

Find on Amazon.de ▸ (affiliate link)

A basic two-part nutrient line is enough for a small home cycle. One bottle or formula supports the earlier growth phase, the other covers flowering. There is no need to turn a legal four-plant setup into a shelf full of additives. Simple feeding is easier to keep consistent.

pH meter + pH up/down (optional TDS/EC meter)

Find on Amazon.de ▸ (affiliate link)

Water and feed only work if the pH lands in a usable range for the medium. A basic pH meter plus pH up and down solution handles that. An optional TDS or EC meter can help if you want a clearer read on feed strength, but it is not essential on day one.

Thermo-hygrometer

Temperature and humidity are the two room signals most likely to drift without notice. A small thermo-hygrometer lets you see whether the tent is running too warm, too damp, or too dry. That is especially useful in flats, loft rooms, and converted storage spaces.

Pruning scissors, plant ties, measuring beaker

These small tools prevent a lot of annoyance. Scissors handle routine cleanup, ties help keep branches inside the tent footprint, and a measuring beaker makes feed mixing less approximate. None is expensive, but together they make a compact legal setup easier to manage cleanly.

Stay legal

This page covers hardware and growing media only. It does not include seeds, clones, cannabis, or any promise of a finished product. The intended use is personal home cultivation where that is legal under current local rules, including Luxembourg's four-plant household framework and Germany's three-plant per-adult framework. If your jurisdiction prohibits home cultivation, do not grow. Keep plants out of public view, keep the setup at the lawful residence, and never sell, gift, exchange, or barter what you grow. This page is general information, not legal advice; verify the current rules before acting.
